goodwill monday part dos

when one is on a thrifting trip and finds such amazing treasures at one store, one must continue their quest, lest the luck run out. and as it turns out, my cup runith over. at diversity thrift.

now, mind you, i didn't purchase everything i saw at this store. in fact, i left empty-handed. but this trip further solidifies my argument that all fabulous furniture finds happen at a thrift store. my favorite pieces are the ones with a story. just call me phoebe.

let's storm the castle:

how about a brown velvet couch? ah, it's perfectly preserved. seriously.

or black and white 70's side tables with matching coffee table? in mint condition?

test tube vases anyone? just a little clean up...

hand-painted storage thingy? okay, this isn't that wonderful of a find but something about the hand-paintedness of it keeps drawing me back in.

or the early 1900's wardrobe? or the men's white button down shirts still in their packaging? and don't forget the mid-century modern dresser that i don't want to show you cause i am hoping it's still there next week at a lesser price?

overall, great trip. grrrr-ate! in fact, i stopped taking photos because i was too busy marveling. and one can't be interrupted while marveling.

p.s. the same photo disclaimer applies here. in the words of h, "deal with it."

goodwill monday

and i didn't even stop at a goodwill for this thrifting trip! we (h and i) heard this rumor about the love of jesus thrift store. that it was great. that it was huge. and that there were amazing deals to be had. i am here today to tell you this is all very, very true.

all of the couches were sanitized and in amazing condition. all priced 65 bones and less. this loveseat had a matching couch. there was an amazing electric orange couch with matching chair, but its hard to sneak photos of some things.

classic dishware in abundance...

i just love these patterns, but alas, i need no more dishware.

however, i do need these tiny ball ideal jars. at fity-cent a pop, who doesn't?

and if you're feeling the 80s decor thing, how about a solid wood entertainment center with assorted cubby sizes. i think this could prove to be a very modern piece if accessorized correctly. h disagreed. but what does he know?

there were lockers, cubicles, executive desks, dryers and yes, even kitchen sinks. i had a seriously hard time leaving the lockers behind. seriously. hard. time. but then i stumbled across this beauty:

church piece? children's desk? i am not a hundred percent sure, all i know is the top flipped up and there was a drawer and door on the one side. fab-u-lous.

and h and i didn't stop the thrift train here. oh no, there are much more goodies to be had at other stores... more on that tomorrow.

happy monday!

photo disclaimer: all of these pictures are taken with my camera phone, and no, i do not have an iphone. so quality is less than desired.

the stache party

i saw this project or something like it on the internets eons ago. eons. so i guess i am fashionably late to the mustache party. i am sure things have moved on - sharks are the new cupcakes and cupcakes were the new owls.

and, i think this armor etch is over 2 years old, so i did leave it on for a good 15 minutes or so.

see, i have a ridonkulous amount of jars. and they are just so versatile, i hate to recycle them. so i decided mustache glasses were the must-have kitchen accessory for spring.

so i printed out a pattern on sticker paper, layered these puppies up with some electrical tape, bribed h to exacto the staches out for me, waited an agonizing 15 minutos and voila!

anybody thirsty?

oh internets

what a tangled web we weave... except this time my intention was not to deceive!

i put my kinda hate for my inspiration line out there, and the internets did provide the answer! as i opened my gmail account to my photojojo newsletter (if you don't get it, sign up now) to find the wrap-around-the-corner-frame. which is cool, don't get me wrong. but nothing, nothing like

the magnetic photo rope!

five colors + eight magnetics = my new inspiration line. and you can hold it up with a push pin or simple nail! and less than 30 bones for three of 'em.

modernspiration.

bird on a wire

inspiration lines. we all need'em. we all love'em. it's like hanging your junk drawer on your wall, only without the chinese take-out menus. so when it was time to put mine up, i looked around a bit.

found via desire to inspire - from flickr

fab! and super simple. and hey, didn't i just put up some hardware cloth on the porch so i don't lose a pug overboard?

find it here.

even fabber! i love the circles, it's almost like being underwater in the 70s! (and who doesn't want that?)

but mine, well...

i just kinda hate it.

functionally, it works.

i just feel sorta meh *shoulders shrugged* when i look at it.

and doesn't that defeat the purpose?

bottles, bottles, everywhere...

but not a drop to drink.

i have a big love of vintage bottles and jars, and a h that grew up on 300 acres of farmland with a farmhouse. an old one.

so mil and fil boxed them up with bow and gave some of them to me for christmas. that small brown glass one in the front is an old inkwell.

these are sample bottles from a brewery. i could take flight of beer in bottles like these any day!

can you guess what came in this one?

searching...

for this. reasonably priced of course. preferably vintage.

thoughts?

p.s. just so you know, according to amazon, since i like this type of lamp, i also like twin peaks and stargate atlantis. who knew!
